Mildred Elaine Ivie Adams, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, at Mt. Vernon Assisted Living. She was under the additional care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice.
Elaine was born June 13, 1935, in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, to Richard R. Ivie and Sybil Bloxam Ivie. She graduated from Mackay High School and continued her education at the Twin Falls Business College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree.
In November of 1955, she married Gary Stanton Adams in Elko, Nevada. Together they raised four children. She has lived in Idaho Falls for the last 40 years.
Elaine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a pianist; she also sang in the choir and was the choir director. She volunteered for Bonneville County with the election process as a poll worker.
Elaine was a mother and homemaker. She also worked for the Department of Energy and the Idaho National Laboratory. She was involved with the Idaho Falls Opera Theater, the Idaho Falls Symphony Chorale, and was a Master Gardeners volunteer. She enjoyed cats and dogs, but loved her family more than anything, especially her kids and grandkids.
Survivors include:
Daughter: Valerie McConnell of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son: Michael Adams of Preston, ID;
Daughter: Michelle Iannone of Leonard, TX;
Son: Sean Adams of Idaho Falls, ID;
Sister: Sandy Murphy; and her brother, Robert Ivie.
and 5 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sybil and Richard Ivie, and by her husband, Gary.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Travis Walker officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
