Eileen Bennett

Eileen Margaret Bennett, 94, of Dubois, Idaho, passed away August 8, 2018, at Heritage Assisted Living in Rexburg. She was recently under the care of Encompass Hospice. Eileen was born January 5, 1924, in Harding, Manitoba, Canada, to Stephen Francis English and Annie Emily Hutchinson English. She grew up and attended schools in Harding and attended Brandon College and Normal School to become a teacher. She taught in Canada for two years until she was offered a teaching position in Clark County, Idaho, while she was visiting the dentist in North Dakota. She met Kenneth "Kenny" Bennett of Kilgore, ID in the spring of 1948 and were married a short time later on June 15. To this union were born two daughters, Connie and Ann, and one son, Pat. Eileen and Kenny made their home in Kilgore on the Bennett ranch where they raised their children, crops, and Arabian horses. She was an active member of the Dubois Community Baptist Church, 4-H programs, Senior Citizens Center, Operation Christmas Child, and many others service organizations. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, volunteering, cooking, and researching local and family history. She was a strong supporter of community programs and events, and spent much time following her grandchildren in support of their endeavors. Eileen is survived by her loving daughter, Connie (Ron) Barg of Dubois, ID; daughter, Ann Carver of Arvada, CO; sister, Muriel Loraine "Bunny" Seidler of Oliver, BC; granddaughters, Nichole (Bennett) Steffler of Firth, ID; Paula (Carver) Kastner of Denver, CO; Amanda (Carver) Thomas of Arvada, CO; and Lana (Barg) Schwartz of Dubois, ID; in addition, Eileen had several step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren, including those she gathered under her wing and treated as such throughout all her involvement in the community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Bennett, son, Pat Bennett, her parents, brothers Frank and Crawford English, and sister, Ruth Carbonnell. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Dubois Community Baptist Church, 220 South Oakley Street, with Pastor Warren Cuppy officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Old Kilgore Cemetery following the service.
