Edwina was born May 16,1936 in Utica, New York, the last of ten children born to Abraham J. Saba and Mary Boulos Saba. She grew up in Utica with her large family. Edwina completed her elementary education at Our Lady of Lourdes parochial school. In 1955, she graduated from Utica Free Academy high school in Utica, New York.
Following graduation, she worked at Partlow Corporation in New Hartford, N.Y. Later, while working at Griffiss AFB, N.Y., she met the love of her life and future husband.
On June 15,1963, she married Lt. Martin L. Young in Our Lady of Lourdes church in Utica, New York and they shared 61 years together. Their marriage was blessed with four children.
She enjoyed the many social opportunities and traveling to new assignments throughout the United States with her husband and children during his Air Force career. During these many moves, she served as a religious education teacher, managed a thrift shop and participated in numerous Cub Scout and charitable fund raising activities. She also took college courses as time permitted while raising her family. She liked to bowl and play bridge and somehow found time for these activities as well.
Edwina moved to Idaho Falls with her husband and family following his retirement from the Air Force in 1980. She worked for several years as a teacher's aide at both the Ethel Boyes and Longfellow elementary schools.
She loved traveling, camping, quilting, cooking and volunteering. Starting in 1981, she was an active quilter and member of the Patchworkers Quilt Club until failing eye sight in 2019. She also served as president of the Catholic Women's Association. She dedicated her life to helping others and supporting her extended family. The moments in her life she loved the most were when she was surrounded by her children and eleven grandchildren; Chris, Maes, James, Matthew, Anna, Delaney and Cameron Young and Martin, Jack, Alex and Lance Geib.
Her religion and faith were very important to her and she was a lifelong Catholic. At the time of her death she was an active member of the Pope Saint John Paul II Catholic Parish.
Edwina is survived by her husband Martin Young; her four children, Jeffrey Young, Kevin (Karen) Young, David (Laura) Young and Heather (James) Geib all of Idaho Falls; her in-laws, Rose Saba of NY, George and Clara Frailey of CA, Gary Young of IL and Jennifer Young of IL; her eleven grandchildren, Chris, Maes, James, Matthew, Anna, Delaney and Cameron Young and Martin, Jack, Alex and Lance Geib; and many nieces and nephews.
