Edwin Arthur Swisher, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 24, 2017, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice.
Edwin was born December 10, 1930, in Lyndon, Kansas, to Lyall Edwin Swisher and Martha Charlotta "Lottie" Schoepflin Swisher. He grew up and attended a one-room school house in Lyndon and graduated from Lyndon High School. He received the DeKalb Leadership award in FFA (Future Farmers of America). He also attended the Greer Diesel School in Chicago, Illinois. Edwin served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was Commander of American Legion Post 19 in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
On June 4, 1950, he married Marjorie Ruth Canniff in Lyndon. To this union were born three children, Mark, Lisa and Denise. They made their home in Denver, Colorado, where Edwin worked as a Supervisor of Maintenance for the Public Service Company of Colorado. Edwin and Marjorie enjoyed 67 years of marriage.
He was a member of the Reformed Church in America. He was very active in the Mountain View Church in Denver. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Swisher of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lisa (Joe) Hylton of Montrose, CO; daughter, Denise Cook of Idaho Falls, ID, sister, Barbara (Dwight) Glenn of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark Swisher, and sisters, Mary Jane Copp and Nadine Crique.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area C, in Denver, Colorado. The family will visit with friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Olinger Moore Howard Chapel (4345 West 46th Avenue, Denver, CO 80212).
