Edward Kearsley (The Big Clipper ), 85, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at home with his loving wife by his side. A special thanks to Brio Hospice for their wonderful loving care during his last days.

Parl Edward Kearsley, was born December 29,1938, in Driggs, Idaho, to Arthur Wallace Kearsley and Ruth Mary Bagley Kearsley. He was the second child in a family of four. His other siblings being, Janeal, Aldene, and Ryan. He attended schools in Victor, Idaho, and graduated from Teton High in 1957. He went on to further his education in SLC Barber School and graduated in 1959 as an apprentice barber. He apprenticed for 18 months and then returned to school to become a Master Barber.

Ed served in the Army National Guard for 8 years and was called up on the Berlin Crisis in 1962. He then came back to Idaho Falls, where he owned and operated the Rio Barber Shop for 54 years. One of his many customers was Wilson Rawls, the author of “Where the Red Fern Grows”. Ed also owned a small ranch in Shelley, Idaho, where he enjoyed raising cattle, riding, and training horses. He loved dancing, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling.

He married Myrna Mickelsen, on October 12, 1960, in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union 3 children were born, Gary, Michele, and Chris.

Ed was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions. Among these being, High Priest Group Leader, High Councilman, in the Elders Quorum Presidency, and many more.

After Myrna died, he married LaRae Arave Rammell, on December 29, 2011. He gained 4 more sons, Rex, Gary, Casey, and Dee. Ed and LaRae served a full time mission to Rapid City, South Dakota. Upon returning they worked at the Humanitarian Center, taught Special Needs Adult Primary, and were temple ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ruth Kearsley; wife, Myrna Kearsley; brother, Ryan (Connie) Kearsley; brother-in-law, Don Swanson ; and nephew, Kent Swanson.

He is survived by his wife, LaRae Kearsley of Idaho Falls, ID; children, Gary (Lora) Kearsley of Lewisville, ID, Michele (Dave) Eckman of Shelley, ID, and Chris Kearsley of Idaho Falls, ID; step-sons, Rex (Lynda) of Rock Springs, WY, Gary (Annie) of Tetonia, ID, Casey (Rachel) of Jackson, WY, and Dee (Tamara) of Afton, WY; and sisters, Janeal (Don) Swanson of Idaho Falls, ID, and Aldene (Doug) Poole of Rigby, ID; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3195 S. Holmes Avenue in Idaho Falls,  officiated by Bishop Kevin Sommer. The family will visit with friends Friday evening, November 1, 2024, from 6:30- 8 p.m. and Saturday, from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the service, both visitations will be held at the church. Interment will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia, ID, where he will be buried by his eternal mate.
