Edward "Zig" Anthony Piotrowski

Edward Anthony “Zig” Piotrowski, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 12, 2024, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello. He was under the care of his loving family.

Zig was born January 30, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Henry Edward Piotrowski and Eleanor Gorsky Piotrowski. He grew up and attended schools in Pittsburgh, and went on to serve in the Air Force from 1962-1968, earning the ranking of Staff Sergeant. Zig was proud to be a Veteran.

A few years after his military discharge, he met Eileen, the “love of his life” working in a nursing home.

On December 4, 1981, he married Eileen Fitzpatrick in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Zig and Eileen made their home in California where Zig worked as a Stationary Engineer for Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland.

He was a member of Local 39 and also a member of the American Legion. Zig also enjoyed old cars, model cars, puzzles, making people laugh, and dancing with his daughter.

Zig is survived by his wife, Eileen Piotrowski of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Cherie Lynne (Chris) Boniface of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Victor (Debbie) Piotrowski of Livermore, CA; brother, Rodger Piotrowski of Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughters, Victoria Piotrowski and Izabella Boniface; grandson, Brayden Boniface; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Henry Piotrowski and Richard Piotrowski.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Directly following will be a luncheon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ledge Rock Building. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your preferred charity or the Veterans Association.
