EDNA THOMAS
DUBOIS, ID -- Edna Virginia Frederiksen Thomas, 76, of Dubois, passed away January 5, 2007, at her home.
Edna was born August 21, 1930, in Sugar City, Idaho, to Hans Edward Frederiksen and Virginia McGovern Frederiksen. She attended elementary school in Kilgore and high school in Spencer and St. Anthony prior to going to Chilicothe, Missouri, to attend business college.
She married George William "Bill" Thomas July 23, 1950, in Kilgore, Idaho. Their home for many years was working at the Garrett Ranch in Medicine Lodge, then later they made their home in Dubois at their own farm and ranch operation. Edna was a homemaker and mother, served for the Clark County Fair and on the election board. Bill and Edna were chosen as the Grand Marshal and Pioneer Queen of the Clark County Rodeo in 1999.
She volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She was a 4-H leader, where she taught many to make her delicious bread. Edna was a fabulous cook and was known for her delicious bread, divinity and canned fruits. She was a wonderful gardener and an excellent seamstress. She was a very giving, thoughtful person. Although distant family members (related through out Aunt Vera Thomas Compton) we spent many wonderfully happy days of our youth with Bill, Edna, Willa, Connie, and George (and our cousins) at the Garrett Ranch riding horses and playing in the barn. Many people will never experience the wonderful opportunities we were so fortunate to have on the ranch and only see that kind of life in movies! We learned so much from the family, got the greatest horse in the world from the ranch (Peanuts), and memories, love, and lessons from our extended family to carry us through several lifetimes.
