EDITH C. STEPHENS IONA, ID -- Edith Conrad Stephens, 83, of Iona, Idaho passed away June 15, 2005 encircled by loved ones. She was born October 1, 1921, in Iona, Idaho, to David Farold Conrad and Ida E. Hansen Conrad. She attended primary schools in Iona, graduated from Iona High School and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She married her sweetheart Earl Rushton Stephens May 13, 1939, in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized February 9, 1944, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. She was a caring, loving, and compassionate mother and homemaker raising four children with her husband on the family farm. Edith loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and devoted most of her time to caring and watching out for others. Edith instilled many valuable lessons into the people that had the opportunity to know her. Grandma had the unique ability to draw out the best in everyone that was in her presence. Edith did not have to go far for love and happiness. Love was everywhere in her home and in her family. Everything she did came from her heart. Grandma took great pride in her cooking and you could taste the love that went into each and every meal. The highlight of the grandchildren’s birthday was Grandma’s chocolate cake made from scratch. She is survived by her dear husband Earl, her daughter, Margo (John, deceased) Covert, Aloha, OR; sons, Redge Conrad (Sonja) Stephens, Gilbert, AZ; Earl Reed Stephens, Iona, ID; Conrad R. (Ruth) Stephens, Boise, ID; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Willa (Ralph R. ) Harding, Blackfoot, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Farold H. Conrad and Gary Conrad and sisters, Madge Conrad, Edna C. Hansen and Margaret C. Neil. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings in the Relief Society, MIA and Primary organizations. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Monday, June 20, 2005, at the Iona LDS Stake Center (Iona Road and Ririe Highway), with Bishop William Krantz of the Iona 3rd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon) and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
