EDITH SEALANDER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Edith Astrid Johannessen Sealander, age 92, if Idaho Falls, passed away June 26, 2008, in Malad, Idaho after a short illness.
She was born August 25, 1915, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Henry and Edith Johannessen. She spent several years of her childhood in Tomah, Wisconsin, and attended schools in Tomah and Idaho Falls.
On November 22, 1933, she married Clause Sealander. They farmed in the New Sweden area and operated a dairy. Edith loved gardening and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed the opportunity she had to milk their herd of dairy cows for eight years. She was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook. Together she and Clause built and maintained Sealander Park. Edith loved caring for the park and enjoyed providing a beautiful place people could gather for fun picnics. Clause passed away in 1982.
Edith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the VF Club, and the Sons of Norway.
She is survived by four of her five children: Robert (Robin) Sealander of Ormond Beach, Florida, David Sealander of Idaho Falls, Elisa (Darryl) Parks of Ballwin, Missouri, and Karl (Evelyn) Sealander of Salem, Utah; three sisters: Jensine Marsh of Preston, Joanna (Dale) Koester of Downey, and Jalna Searle of Shelley; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jon Sealander; and 4 sisters, Arlouine Hemus, Ruth Lundblade, Alice Gamble, and Aaltje Ellis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge in Idaho Falls. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m., both at Wood Funeral Home. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinershq.org.

I read of the passing of Mrs. Sealander and I wanted to express my thanks to her and the family for the many years of tending the Sealander Park. I've been to many picnics in this lovely park and appreciated it very much. I extend my condolences to all of her family at this time and hope that you all know that she is happy.
