EDIE MCMURTREY Click here to view Edie's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Edith Mattie "Edie" McMurtrey, 84, of Idaho Falls, died February 3, 2010, at her home. She was under the care of Alliance Hospice. Edie was born February 24, 1925 in Tooele, Uah. Her parents were Elsie Irene Raymond Bart and Mack Charles Bart. She attended school in Rigby, Idaho. She married Lamont Price McMurtrey on August 8, 1942 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized on August 8, 1978 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls where she worked as a cosmetologist. Over the years, she also worked as a clerk, car shuttle driver, secretary, and homemaker. Lamont preceded her in death on September 28, 1993. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served actively in the Relief Society. She was an avid bowler and played on a senior citizen league at Skyline Lanes. She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening, and watching sports - especially baseball. Survivors include: Daughter: Edith "Edie" (Al) Newman, Blackfoot , ID Granddaughter: Julie (Randy) Wilmot, Shelley, ID Grandson: Monte (Shelley) Newman, St. Anthony, ID Brother: Mick (Marilyn) Bart, Canby, OR 10 Great Grandchildren and Five Great-Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandchildren; and brother, Truman Wilson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Idaho Falls LDS Stake Center, 1155 East First Street with Bishop Hal Peterson of the Sandcreek First Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Rd., and on Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
