IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Edith Alberta Brailsford Bowen, 82, of Idaho Falls, died January 22, 2010, at Lily & Syringa Home of natural causes. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Edith was born March 28, 1927, in Draper, Utah, to James Albert Brailsford and Sarah Edith Van Leuven Brailsford. She grew up in Draper and graduated from Jordan High School.
Edith married Hyrum David Bowen on June 14, 1946, in Midvale, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized on February 9, 1947, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. In 1958 they moved to Idaho Falls, where they raised their four children. She was a homemaker and mother and also worked at the Wonder Bread Thrift Store, then later was an executive secretary for V-1 Oil, Roger Brothers, and EG&G Idaho. Hyrum preceded her in death on May 3, 1999.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in Cub Scouts and Young Women. She served as PTA President at A.H. Bush Elementary School when her children were enrolled there. Edith enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, dancing, and gardening.

Daughter: Barbara Ann (Brian) Moffitt, Las Vegas, NV
12 Grandchildren & 10 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Ronald D. Bowen and a daughter-in-law, Susan Bowen.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery with Bishop George Cook of the Idaho Falls LDS Old Butte Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Bonneville County Human Society, P. O. Box 2763, Idaho Falls, ID 83403.
