Long time Idaho Falls resident Earl Dwaine Nelson passed away Friday, September 25, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family at the age of 81.
Earl was born July 29, 1934, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Leroy Dwaine Nelson and Thelma Brower Nelson. He grew up in the Teton Valley and graduated from Teton Valley High School.
On March 17, 1954, he married Gay LaDean Heyrend in Evanston, Wyoming. She was the love of his life.
Earl was a fireman, electrical contractor and farmer in Idaho Falls for many years and lived a joyous and optimistic life that he passed along to anyone who met him. He was the owner of Nelson Electric.
Earl was a Christian. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed softball, motorcycling, snowmobiling, living life to its fullest. He loved having his family surround him at all times. He particularly enjoyed spending time in Teton Valley at the family cabin.
Earl and Gay were married 61 years. Along with their four children, they have 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Earl shared a special relationship with his grandchildren and taught them about life's wonder and opportunities.
Earl is survived by his loving wife Gay Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Becky Gili of Idaho Falls, ID;
son, Ben (Vickie) Nelson of Salt Lake City, UT;
daughter, Amber (Dave) Warner of Albuquerque, NM;
daughter, Corie (Tom) Farrer of Idaho Falls;
12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving step-parents, Harry Jones and Fonnie Jones.
The family will celebrate Earl's life in a private remembrance, but wish to thank ALL of the relatives and friends who added so much to the fullness of this wonderful man's life. The family would like to thank the staff at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and particularly Dr. Speirs for the special care given to Earl and his family.
