Earl Meyer

Earl Reed Meyer, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at his home. He was born November 21, 1939, in San Francisco, California, and was adopted by Elmer Angus Meyer and Veronica Betha Hauprich Meyer and moved to Oklahoma. He grew up and attended schools in San Francisco and Oklahoma. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and in the U.S. Navy during peacetime. Following his military service, he attended college studying restaurant management. On February 25, 1967, he married Nonda Karen Brandon in Redwood City, California. They made their home initially in the San Francisco Bay area and then moved to Fairfax, Virginia before moving to Idaho Falls 21 years ago. Earl was a career Executive French Chef, working for Marriott Corporation for a number of years. He also was an instructor at the Washington School of Culinary Arts. Upon his retirement from the restaurant industry in 1993 he and his wife moved to Idaho Falls. Here Earl began Premier Painting and Renovations, working with his son, Randy. Earl was a member of First Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. He served on the Church Council and the Fellowship Ministry Team. He particularly enjoyed fishing, camping, and building remote controlled aircraft. Survivors are: Wife: Nonda Meyer, Idaho Falls Daughter: Karen (David) Hayes, Idaho Falls Son: Randall (Lisa) Meyer, Reston Virginia Grandchildren: Victoria Boyd; Anna Meyer, Jonathan Meyer, William Meyer, and Kaia Meyer; MaKaylla Hayes, Bryson Hayson He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge).
