Earl Champ Church, 75, passed away on February 9, 2016, at his home in Irwin, Idaho. Champ was born September 23, 1940, in Panguitch, Utah to Champ Church and Afton Heaps Church. He attended schools in the area and graduated from Panguitch High School. He continued his education by attending Dixie College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. On September 7, 1979, he married Margit Hjordis Modtland in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1983. Champ worked as a Sales Manager at Dyna Systems for many years. Champ's love of the outdoors was evident to anyone who met him. While he loved fishing and all things outdoors, he loved hunting most of all. He proudly sported the license plate: Lov2Hnt. Champ was an avid bowhunter and a Life Member of the Idaho State Bowhunters Association. He served as President of the ISB for many years. He was recognized as Idaho State Bowhunter of the Year on more than one occasion. Champ's passion for bowhunting lives on in the Bow Hunter Safety courses now in use in Idaho, which he was instrumental in founding and organizing. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Young Men's organization where he worked with the youth. He especially enjoyed working with the Scouting program. Champ will be fondly remembered for his storytelling, practical jokes, love of family, and his spirit and gentleness. He was a great man, loved and cherished by all who knew him. He will be missed tremendously. Champ is survived by: Wife: Margit Church, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Debbie Church, Brigham City, UT Daughter: Mary (Greg) Heiner, Farmington, UT Daughter: Kandi (Brian) Howe, Smithfield, UT Daughter: Anna (Bill) Hohnbaum, Boise, ID Daughter: Ellen (Phil) Docken, Rigby, ID Sister: Beverly (Byron) Lindford, Ivans, UT Sister: Leah Chamberlain, Beaver Dam, AZ Sister-in-law: Judy Church, Hailey, ID hamp also has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wally Church, his grandson, Kort Jensen, and his daughter, Charlene "Linnie" Blomquist Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Palisade LDS Ward (3109 Swan Valley Highway) with Bishop Terry Hulse officiating.
