DUANE "TUFFY" CLARK
SHELLEY, ID -- Duane Clendon "Tuffy" Clark, 95, of Shelley, died peacefully May 4, 2008. He was born February 21, 1913, in Idaho Falls, to Lee Clark, Jr, and Malinda Catron Clark.
On June 6, 1940, he married the love of his life, Betty Stuart. Betty died in November of 1999. Together they farmed and raised horses in Shelley for 51 years.
Tuffy stood the blue roan stallion "Dazzling Steel," grandget of legend "Three Bars." Dazzling Steel sired 71 foals in his 29 years. Many of the stallions he produced carry on his legacy today, thanks to his grandson Kelly.
Tuffy loved to go to breakfast with his sons-in-law and accompanied them to meet with friends and take drives to see various places in the area. He tremendously loved his children and grandchildren and was dearly loved and respected by his family and friends. It was important for him to know what was going on in each and every one of his family's lives. He always asked, "What's new?" or "What do you know?"
Survivors include:
Daughter: Sandra (Fred) Stoddard
Daughter: Linda (Martin) Stoddard
Son: Dale (Tracy) Clark
Sister: Aloha Pyle Anderson
6 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
Per Tuffy's request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. The family plans to spread his and Betty's ashes together on the land they shared.
