After a long battle with Cancer, Douglas Earl Lessig, 56, of Idaho Falls passed away December 13, 2012, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born September 19, 1956 in Salt Lake city, Utah to Garold Ross Lessig and Elizabeth Nellie Whitmore Lessig. He grew up and attended school there graduating from West High School. Doug married Renee Munsee on February 28, 1976 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and “papa”. On October 8, 1988, Doug was baptized as one of Jehovah Witnesses. He actively shared his faith and was an active member of the Idaho Falls Congregation. Doug was an employee of Fed Ex for the past 23 years. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, camping and spending time with his family. Doug is survived by his wife, Renee Lessig of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Jeramy (Nicole) Lessig of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Melissa (Andres) Valdovinos of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Brittney (Scott) Gold of Bountiful, UT; Mother, Betty Lessig of Salt Lake City, UT; Brother, Gary (Elaine) Lessig of Layton, UT; Sister, Diane (John) Jackson of AR; Sister, Linda Lessig of Salt Lake City, UT; 4 Grandchildren, Kali, Brecken, Sophie and Jake and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Garold and 2 nephews, Kevin and Danny. Memorial Services will be Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 2p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Road). The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Aspen Home Health and Hospice as well as The Huntsman Cancer Center for their care.
