DOUGLAS HANSEN
IONA, ID -- Douglas Hansen, 94, of Iona, Idaho, died December 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born October 23, 1907 in Iona, Idaho to Christian S. Hansen and Eva McMullin Hansen. He attended schools in Iona and attended Idaho State University to become a Machinist.
He married Alta Pearl Peterson January 30, 1931 in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan temple February 25, 1939. He worked as a mechanic, blacksmith and machinist and lived in Iona all his life.
He served as a board member for the City of Iona and also for the Iona Cemetery.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Elder’s Quorum, and President over Scoutmasters.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and family outings.
Surviving are:Wife: Alta Peterson Hansen, IonaSon: Douglas DeVere (Karen) Hansen, Iona, presently serving a mission in Bintulu, Malaysia.Son: Quade Peterson (Lea Rae) Hansen, Orem, UTDaughter: Tonja H. (Norman) Ellis, IonaSister: Claudia Godfrey, Rexburg, ID 12 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Osenbaugh, two sisters, and a brother.
Funeral Services will be at Wood Chapel of the Pines, Monday, December 17, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Mike Long of the Iona 5th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services at Wood Funeral Home.
