Dorothy Jean Harris Woolstenhulme, 67, passed away late Saturday morning, August 18, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from a lingering illness.
She was born March 15, 1945, in Driggs, Idaho, to William Wylie Harris and Maude Killpack Harris. Dorothy grew up in beautiful Teton Valley and graduated from Teton High School in 1963. She was an accomplished ski racer, competing at many local ski areas, such as Bear Gulch, Snow King, and Pine Basin. She was also the first ski patrolwomen when Grand Targhee Resort opened.
On April 12, 1965, she married Eddie Lyle Woolstenhulme in Pocatello, Idaho. They had two children, Lyle Von and Audra Ann. They divorced in October of 1968. Dorothy worked for the Bonneville County Magistrate Court for 35 years and retired in 2003. She was a very dedicated employee and a beloved co-worker. She developed many close friendships and loved and appreciated each one of them.
In her later years, her most favorite activity was lunch with “The Valley Girls” (and maybe an occasional Valley Guy). These lunches were friendly with extreme gossip at its best.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of her life. Dorothy’s pets were an important part of her family. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and easily kept everyone interestingly entertained.
