DOROTHY STEFFENSEN IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Dorothy O’Neal Steffensen, 90, formerly of Brea, California, passed away June 4, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Idaho Falls. She was born July 12, 1918, in Springfield, Missouri, to John Alexander O’Neal and Nancy Ellen Phillips O’Neal. She grew up and attended schools in the area. Following graduation from high school, she attended business school. On March 21, 1940, she married Elwood Martin Steffensen in Los Angeles, California. They resided in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Brea, California, where they lived for 51 years. Elwood preceded her in death on November 1, 1997. During World War II, Dorothy built airplanes for North American. She was also a mother and homemaker and worked as a Meat Wrapper for Alpha Beta Markets. She was a member of Red Hats and was active at the Senior Citizen Center. Dorothy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and sewing. Survivors are: Daughter: Nancy (JC) Hart, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: William (Jack) O’Neal, Kuhn, MO Sister: Betty Groves, Oceanside, CA 6 Grandchildren: Scott (Paula) Hart, Steffeny (Alan) Jackson, Christina (Michael) Degn, Lisa (Kent) Patterson, Jason (Katie) Hart, Brad (Marla) Hart, and 25 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and a sister. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 1st Ward (1660 -- 12th Street) with President JC Hart, of the Ammon West Stake Presidency, presiding, and Bishop LaMar Densley officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
