Dorothy Lee Smart

Dorothy Lee Smart, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 1, 2026, at her home. She was under the care of Brio Hospice.

Dorothy was born October 10, 1947, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Marion LaVere Hutchings and Anne Elizabeth Kirkman Hutchings. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She also attended Ricks College.

On July 8, 1968, she married Roger Tyron Smart in Elko, Nevada. Dorothy and Roger made their home in Idaho Falls, where Dorothy worked as a office manager and mastectomy fitter at Northwest Orthotics & Prosthetics.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Civitan Club of Idaho Falls. She enjoyed art, music (piano and voice,) sewing, crocheting, reading, and crafts. She loved her dogs, snowbirding in Arizona, and Cardinals “red birds.”

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Roger T. Smart of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Michael (Jennifer) Smart of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Natalie(Kevin) Wallis of Richland, WA; daughter, Alison (Rowdi) Evans of Pocatello, ID; brother, Richard (Amy) Hutchings of Rhinebeck, NY; sister, Marianne Morse of Lake Havasu, AZ; and brother, Robert (Sharon) Hutchings, of Boise, ID; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric David Smart; and sister Jeanne Hundhausen.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the St. Leon Ward, 12448 North 5th East. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Civitan International.
