Dorothy Mcgary

Dorothy Ann Dalton McGary passed away on June 19, 2013, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dorothy was born June 23, 1926 in Shelley to Velta and Williard E. “Gene” Dalton. She spent her early childhood in Shelley and Lincoln, Idaho. Dorothy met Garth C. McGary in June of 1946 soon after he returned from WW II and they were married on October 5, 1946. She lived the majority of her life in Idaho Falls. Her life's work included working at the U and I Sugar factory with her parents, for the school district as a secretary at Skyline High School and in the court system for various local judges. Entertaining in her immaculate home and cooking for guests was a pleasure. Her joy was growing beautiful geraniums of every king and color, but especially deep red; as well as having a vast flower garden. Dorothy was a beautiful quilter giving her intricate quilts to family and friends. Crocheting was also one of her pastimes. She loved her granddogs: Ben, Shadow, Oliver, Lucy, Sparky, and especially Jack with all her heart. In her later years, walking at the mall was a daily activity for Dorothy and Garth. This aided in the fast healing of her broken hip. A special thanks to Tom and Sandy Albaugh for their help and friendship. She is survived by her husband Garth C. McGary and daughter, Janet L. McGary. Dorothy has been in the wonderful care of Turtle and Crane and One Source Hospice, and we are especially grateful for the superior care she received. In lieu of flowers please love a dog or cat. Graveside services will be held at 2:oo p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Ammon Cemetery, Ammon, Idaho.
