IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Dorothy Lilly Hinckley, 64, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 28, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born December 20, 1944, at Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ross Clinton Hinckley and Mable Rachel Hunter Hinckley. She grew up and attended schools in the area. She continued her education by attending Ricks College, Eastern Idaho Technical College, and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo with Bachelor’s Degrees in both Nutrition and Special Education. She worked as a nutritionist, special education teacher, did office and clerical work, and was a caregiver. She was most recently employed at the Museum of Idaho, something that she particularly enjoyed. Dorothy’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the museum for everything they did for her.
Dorothy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From 1966-1968 she served as a missionary in the Southern California Mission. She loved the church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving wherever she was called and attending the temple weekly.
Dorothy was talented as a seamstress and did a great deal of needle work. She made beautiful tablecloths and gifts for her nieces and nephews and their babies. She also enjoyed reading and gardening. She was pleased with her roses and other flowers in her backyard and spent a lot of time enjoying her yard in the summer months.

Miss Hinckley was a teacher I had a young child. I did not know her very well but I remembered her when I saw her name. Our greatest sympathies go out to you and your family at this time of your loss. May the Lord bless you with the comfort and love that you need.

As we all know she is now with Uncle Clinton and Aunt Mable, her namesake, and the rest of the family that has proceeded her in death, having a great reunion.

I know that words can not fill the hole left by the passing of a loved one, but I felt compelled to write and tell you that my prayers and thoughts as well as those of many here at the museum are with you in your grief.
I came to the Museum of Idaho only a short time prior to Dorothy's health issues. In that short time her commitment to the museum and friendship to those here was made very clear. We felt her absence here and early on, looked for her return. It was not to be.
My wish for you is that you might fill the void with fond memories, and the knowledge she is suffering no more.
I cannot be in attendance this week, but again, my thoughts are with you.
God Bless,
Rod Hansen,
