Dorothy E. Bliss - 01/24/2003 Dorothy E. Bliss - 01/24/2003 DOROTHY E. BLISS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Dorothy Elaine Poulter Bliss passed away January 22, 2003 at the Idaho Falls Care Center of natural causes after a recent hip surgery. She was born October 19, 1920, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Orla Frank Poulter and Ruth Nunn Poulter, the oldest of five children. She was raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Dorothy was married in Idaho Falls to D. Stacye Bliss, and this marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was a kind and gentle woman who placed her family as a priority in her life. She helped care for her younger brothers and sister after her mother became an invalid and continued to care for her parents with quiet humility throughout their lives. She devoted her life to her husband, daughter and grandchildren. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. An avid genealogist, her great joy was her ability to work at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She served tirelessly and with great peace and happiness, arising at 3:00 a.m. to be at the first session of the temple for many years. Dorothy also worked in area retail, was a member of the Ladies Auxillaries of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and supported her husband during a lifetime of service to the Boy Scouts of America. She leaves her family a legacy and exemplary lifetime of service with quiet dignity, humility, devotion, and love. Those left to miss and remember her with great love include her husband, D. Stacye Bliss of Idaho Falls; daughter, Sandra Smith of Orem, UT; granddaughter, Stacy Smith of Ellicott City, MD; grandson, Terrell Smith of Washington D.C.; granddaughter, Susanne Smith of Orem, UT; brothers, Carl (Elaine) Poulter and Edwin (Marjorie) Poulter; and sister-in-law, Alice (Lloyd) Poulter all of Idaho Falls. She was welcomed to her heavenly home by those who preceded her: parents, Orla and Ruth Poulter; sister, Helen Joy and brother, Lloyd Poulter. The family wishes to thank neighbors, family and friends who cared for Dorothy and her family during her recent illnesses, a special appreciation to the staff of Idaho Falls Care Center and the 16th Ward, who served Dorothy and her family. To all of you, thank you. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS 16th Ward, 9th and Boulevard, with Bishop Phil Roberts officiating. The family will meet with friends on Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.) and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. I worked with Dorothy at the Idaho Falls Temple, and she was always a very kind and gracious person. We are sorry to hear of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
