Dorothy Ann Jensen, 81, passed away April 9, 2026, at her home in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Heritage Hospice and her loving family.
Ann was born on December 27, 1944, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the second of six daughters born to Earl D. Gentle and Dorothy Rose Hope Gentle. They moved 14 times during her childhood. She lived in Montana, Heise, New Sweden and Osgood. She attended O.E. Bell Junior High and Idaho Falls High School, where she was a member of the Pep Club. She met Wayne Jensen and they attended Senior Ball together in the winter of 1962. This was their first date and the beginning of a relationship that lasted over 63 years. After graduating from IF in 1963, she attended Idaho State University, majoring in home economics.
On March 5, 1966, Wayne and Ann were married at the LDS South Stake Center in Idaho Falls. They began farming and eventually settled in the Osgood area; buying their first farm in 1971. They welcomed three children into their family: Kristy, Brett, and Kathy. The family was sealed for eternity on February 16, 1978. Ann and Wayne recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ann gained a deep testimony of Jesus Christ and loved learning the gospel. She served faithfully in her church callings as Young Women and Relief Society Presidents. She served diligently in the Scouting program and enjoyed teaching the youth in Sunday School. She was a devoted visiting teacher and developed close friendships with those she served. Wayne and Ann served a mission to the Idaho Falls Visitor Center; she loved interacting with the missionaries and other couples who served there as well.
Mom was a hard worker and always busy. She enjoyed tending to her garden and beautiful flower beds; red geraniums were her favorite. Her home was decorated for every holiday; both inside and outside. The Christmas season at Mom’s was magical. She spent weeks setting up her Christmas village and trees. She spent countless hours at the gym and ball field supporting her kids and grandkids, and always had a bag full of their favorite snacks. Mom was absolutely devoted to her family!
She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, scrapbooking, reading, and traveling. Her and Wayne enjoyed spending time at their ranch in Kilgore, with all the family around. However, her favorite hobby was shopping! Ann was always ready to meet for lunch in town and then go shopping. She loved to attend auctions and collect antique dishes, linens, and furniture.
Ann is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Kristy (Ken) Bialas of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Brett (Kristy) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; and daughter, Kathy (Todd) Jenkins of Shelley, ID; eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Brown of Idaho Falls, ID, Erlene Morgan of Valley Center, KS, and Penny Raffety of Dillon, MT; and brother-in-law, Rand Dixon of Hamer, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Gentle; and sisters, Nancy Gentle, and Rose Dixon.
The family would like to thank the staff at Teton Cancer Institute, Heritage Hospice, Dr. Wallace Baker, and the many friends, ward members, and neighbors who cared for our mother. Kristy, Brett, and Kathy would like to thank their Dad for his love, devotion and care to Mom this past year.
