Dorothea (Murdock) Jones

Dorothea Jones, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 30, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Dorothea was born May 23, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Reho Melvin Murdock and Verna Cook Murdock. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1954.

On June 5, 1957, she married William Trogdon Jones in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with two daughters, Tammy and Cindy. Dorothea and Bill made their home in Idaho Falls where Dorothea worked as a bookkeeper for Monte Wight Motors. She was also an office specialist in student services at the University of Idaho and a sales clerk and manager at a variety of stores early in her marriage.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities throughout the years, including Sunday School teacher, Primary teacher, Young Women’s secretary, and she sang in the ward choir. She loved family history. She also loved to do counted cross-stitch. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and word puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Dorothea is survived by her daughters, Tamara (Craig) Larsen and Cynthia Cropper, both of Idaho Falls; sister, Glenna (Ladell) Peterson of Boise, ID; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reho and Verna Murdock; husband, Bill Jones; and sister, Colleen Brown.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
