DORIS W. SMITH IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO -- Doris Willett Smith, 85, of Idaho Falls, died April 20, 2006, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She was born August 20, 1920, at Nashua, New Hampshire, to Melvin Willette and Gladys Gertrude Stone Willette. She grew up and attended schools in the area. Following graduation from high school, she attended nursing school where she graduated valedictorian of her class. On January 14, 1943, she married Francis E. Smith in Blytheville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death June 20, 1996. She was a mother and homemaker and worked as a registered nurse. She also co-owned the Pin Cushion Fabric Store in Oscoda, Michigan. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oscoda, Michigan, and served multiple terms as an officer on the church Vestry. She also managed annual bazaars to raise funds for church missions. Her interests included reading, sewing, making doll houses and crafts for fund raisers, and serving as a Hospice volunteer. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Michael Medema, Jonathan Medema, and Christina Smith. Survivors are: Daughter: Leanne G. (John E.) Medema, Idaho Falls, ID 3 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, David G. Smith and Gary E. Smith. At the family’s request, there will be no services held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
