Doris A. Olsen died peacefully in her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Friday, August 4, 2017, at the age of 100. Doris was born April 17, 1917, in Seattle, Washington, to George Andrew Condogeorge and Margaret Adeline Knudson Condogeorge. She grew up in Everett, Washington, spending all of her life in the Seattle - Everett area before moving to Idaho Falls in 1998 to be close to her daughter, Carole Walters. Doris graduated from Everett High School and from Western Washington University. She taught primary grades in Shoreline and Everett School Districts. After receiving a Master of Library Science Degree from the University of Washington, she served for seventeen years as a school librarian and instructional media specialist in the Everett School District. She also was an instructor in the library aide program at Highline Community College. Doris was married to Louis Barr in 1940 and they divorced in 1950. In 1952, she married Clifford Olsen, who preceded her in death in September, 1987. After Doris moved to Idaho Falls, she became a volunteer in many organizations, including Citizens Watch Patrol, Triad, Museum of Idaho and the Colonial Theater. She was a member of the International Association of School Librarians, Beta Phi Mu-Nat'l Library Honorary Association and Retired Teachers Association. She was a life-long member of the Congregational Church and, in recent years, a member of the Idaho Falls First Presbyterian Church. This past April, Doris celebrated her 100th Birthday with a family luncheon at "Jakers" and several days later, an open house was held to celebrate this milestone. Throughout her life, Doris had a love of travel, which she did extensively. Her most exciting adventure was a safari to Kenya, Africa, at the age of 89, followed by a trip Japan and China at the age of 90. Her hobbies included reading, working crossword puzzles, collecting antiques and travel. Doris is survived by her daughter, Carole D. (David G.) Walters of Idaho Falls; son, Clifton J (Karen) Olsen of Everett, WA; three grandchildren: DJ (Gina) Walters of Nampa, Idaho, Darren Olsen of Everett, WA, and Rob (Melissa) Olsen of Everett, WA; five great grandchildren: Kylie Walters and Hunter Walters of Nampa, ID, Melissa Olsen, Max Olsen, and Lucy Olsen of Everett, WA; and a cousin, Helen Englund of Whidbey Island, WA. The family would like to thank Dr. Packer and Alliance Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Doris during the last month. Thanks also to Jean P’Pool and Sue Knorr for being such good friends. A very special thank you to Ellen McClure for the care and compassion she gave Doris. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street, Idaho Falls.
