Doris James Aicher Nield, 87, of Iona, passed away August 13, 2016, at her home.

Doris was born March 16, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to David Woozley James and Lurline Anderson James. She grew up and attended schools in Malad and graduated from Malad High School. She also attended the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls where she received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

On October 29, 1949, she married Arthur Maurice Aicher in Malad, Idaho. To this union were born six children, James, Larry, Donald, Joyce, Thomas, and Carolyn. Doris and Arthur made their home in Iona, Idaho, where Doris was a loving wife and mother. She also worked as a nurse for the Idaho Falls Clinic for over 20 years. She was a phenomenal nurse. Arthur passed away on October 16, 1968. On September 13, 1974, she married Don Jay Nield in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She took great care of her husbands in their illnesses.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Doris loved attending the temple. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening, and floral arranging. She loved her dog, Baxter, very much. Doris’ greatest accomplishments were raising her family and helping raise three grandsons.

Doris is survived by her son, James (Jean) Aicher of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Larry Aicher of Iona, ID; son, Donald (Marla) Aicher of Iona, ID; daughter, Joyce (Craig) Rockwood of Iona, ID; son, Thomas Jay (Teresa) Aicher of Iona, ID; stepson, Brad Nield; stepson, Gael Nield; stepdaughter, Lianne Christensen; stepson, Alan Nield; stepson, Evan Nield; son-in-law, Kieth Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, John (Zelda) James of Idaho Falls, ID; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arthur Aicher and Don Nield; daughter, Carolyn Hansen; grandson, Benjamin Ray Aicher; and brothers, Robert, Garth, and David James.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016, at Iona LDS 11th Ward, 4707 East Iona Road, with Bishop Bradley Bateman officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
