Doris Eldean Fullmer Meikle, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 29, 2017, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community. Doris was born April 25, 1928, in Driggs, Idaho, to Walter Leigh Fullmer and Addie Bell Harris Fullmer. She grew up and attended schools in Driggs, located in Teton Valley, and worked in her father’s grocery store. In 1946, she graduated from Teton High School. On September 25, 1946, she married Doral J Meikle in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. To this union were born five children: Kent, Gary, Shauna, Debbie and Lori. They made their home in Idaho Falls where Doris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Doris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including president of the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations. She later served with her husband in the Idaho Falls Temple. She loved to sing and sang with "The Singing Mothers" vocal group. Doral and Doris sang at many funerals, weddings, and other events. Doris was consistently rendering service to her neighbors, family, and others in need. Doris was an accomplished seamstress and a great cook whose homemade rolls were especially delicious and loved by her family. She was actively involved in the PTA, and wholeheartedly supported both children and grandchildren in all their activities. She’ll be remembered for her sparkling eyes, great smile, and contagious laugh. Doris is survived by her son, D. Kent (Christine) Meikle of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter-in-law, Jean B. Meikle of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Shauna (Nathaniel R.) Payne of St. Paul, MN; daughter, Debbie (Blaine) Burton of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lori M. (Dale) Birch of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Boyd L. (Carolyn) Fullmer of Logan, UT; brother, Terry L. (Beverly ) Fullmer of Ivins, UT; 28 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Gary L. Meikle; two great-granddaughters, Sierra Julie Miskin and Alaina Jo Anderson; and a sister, Valone F. Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Idaho Falls LDS Parkwood Ward (395 Second Street) with Bishop Stephen Miller officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery.
