Doris James Aicher Nield, 87, of Iona, passed away August 13, 2016, at her home after a valiant fight with cancer. She was under the care of her family. Although she was small in stature, she had the heart of a giant and an unwavering faith in her Savior. Doris was born March 16, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to David Woozley James and Lurline Anderson James. She grew up and attended schools in Malad, Idaho, and graduated from Malad High School. She was proud to be from Malad and always enjoyed returning home for visits. She also attended nursing school at LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, where she received her degree in nursing. She loved nursing all her life and worked professionally as a nurse for the Idaho Falls Clinic for over 20 years. On October 19, 1949, she married Arthur Maurice Aicher in Malad. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Doris and Arthur were blessed with six children: James, Larry, Donald, Joyce, Thomas, and Carolyn. Doris and Don made their home in Iona, where she could be close to her family. Don passed away February 21, 2006. Doris took loving care of her husbands, her daughter, Carolyn, and her mother, Lurline, during their extended illnesses. Doris was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved attending church every Sunday. She also enjoyed attending and working in the temple. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening, and floral arranging. She loved her dog, Baxter, who never left her side. Doris loved to sit with her family and tell stories around her firepit in the backyard. She enjoyed visiting with her friends, especially with her cousin, Yolanda Gunderson, Edna Gerard, EvaDean Long, and her daily visits with her brother, John James. Doris’ greatest accomplishments were loving and raising her family and helping to raise three grandsons.
