Dorene Faye Shaffer, 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 12, 2018, in Bountiful, Utah after a battle with cancer. Dorene was born on August 5, 1953, in Soda Springs, Idaho to Bernard Lindstrom and Betty Thomas Lindstrom. She attended grade school in Wayan, Idaho and went to high school in Soda Springs from which she graduated in 1972. Dorene married Joseph Dean Shaffer Jr. on June 16, 1999, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is the love of her life. She worked as a front office manager in the motel business for several years. In 1992, she was hired by a siding company called Rainbow Distributing which later was purchased by Ted Lansing Corporation. She worked for them 26 years until her retirement two years ago. She loved her "family" of cats and leaves behind four wonderful kitties. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dean Shaffer, Jr.; a brother, Varden (Francis) Lindstrom; a sister, Raelene (Mick) Humpherys; and two step-daughters, Barbara (Aaron) Beck and Shanna Shaffer. She also has six step-grandchildren: Ashley, Sam, Carson, Emily, Kemper and Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Betty Lindstrom and her step-son, Joseph Dean Shaffer III. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the Iona LDS 5th Ward (7555 North 55 East) in Iona. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Saturday from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding, Idaho at 3:30 p.m.
