Doreen Yukimi (Nakamura) Azevedo

The Azevedo family lost a beautiful, fiery soul. Doreen Yukimi Azevedo, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 2, 2021, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Doreen was born September 20, 1953, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Thomas Yukio Nakamura and Patsy Fuyu Oyama Nakamura. The majority of her younger years were spent in Oahu, where she graduated high school.

On October 17, 1981, she married Gary James Azevedo in Oahu. While Gary spent years in the Navy, Doreen took on the task of raising their two amazing sons, Christopher and Stephen. Though the couple later divorced, they showed great respect for each other and kept the family unit intact so holidays and birthdays were celebrated with the entire family.

Doreen made her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and worked the majority of her life in the food industry as a waitress, server and maitre’de, as she loved socializing with people. She spent her last years working with the great people at the New Hong Kong.

Doreen loved believing in the magic of crystals (especially Jade), oils and spirits in a positive light. She enjoyed cooking, telling her family history of Hawaii and Japan, making new friendships, as well as spending her time with all her grandchildren and great grandchild. She had a special place in her heart for ALL animals (especially her German Shepherds).

Doreen is survived by her sons, Christopher (Destini) Azevedo of Idaho Falls, ID and Stephen (Nona) Azevedo of Idaho Falls, ID. She was blessed with five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Patsy Nakamura.

A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at 4 p.m. on September 18, 2021, at the Hampton Inn Idaho Falls (near Grand Teton Mall), 2500 Channing Way. Please come share your memories with her family while enjoying some of her favorite foods.
