DORAL J MEIKLE
Doral J Meikle, age 76, passed away at his home on August
7, 2004, after a brief illness.
He was born April 16, 1928, at Driggs, Idaho, to Robert
Gilbert Meikle and Cleo Aurelia Mickelsen Meikle. He graduated from Treton
High School, where he participated in football, basketball and track.
Right after high school graduation, he joined the United States Marine
Corps.
On September 25, 1946, he married his high school sweetheart,
Doris Eldean Fullmer, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he farmed
in Teton Valley for a few years. In 1955, the family moved to Idaho Falls,
where he worked as a truck driver, meat cutter and crane operator. His
last few years of employment was for the LDS Church. He remained an avid
sports fan, with his favorite team being whichever team he had a grandchild
playing on.
He was an Eagle Scout and served as scout master. As
a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served
as a high priest and also many other leadership positions, including the
high council and the bishopric. At the time of his death, he was serving
as an officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Survivor include his wife of almost 58 years, Doris,
five children, D. Kent (Christine) Meikle, Gary L. (Jean) Meikle, Debbie
(Blaine) Burton, and Lori (Dale) Birch, all of Idaho Falls, and Shauna
(Rob) Payne of Minneapolis, MN; twenty eight grandchildren, sixteen great
grandchildren, and his brother Rex (Vernita) Meikle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
Kay Meikle and Jack Meikle, and two great grandchildren, Sierra Miskin
and Alaina Anderson.
Funeral Services are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10,
2004, at the Idaho Falls LDS 20th Ward, 651 Gladstone, Idaho Falls with
Bishop Lance Toone officiating. The family will meet with friends Tuesday
from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho
Falls. and Tuesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia,
Idaho under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
