Donna Pieper

Donna Madge Dick Pieper passed away at her home in Idaho Falls on Saturday, December 1, 2012. She was the second child born to David Wesley Dick and Eva Elaine Hansen Dick in Jamestown, Idaho, on June 12, 1923. Donna attended local schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1944, where she served as Student Body President in her senior year. She then attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, where she continued her interests in student government and theater arts. It was in Pocatello that she met her husband to be, Don Pieper. It was war time and he was stationed at the Pocatello Air Base, where he was a navigator on a B24 airplane with the United States Air Force. He was later shot down in Romania, where he was held as a prisoner of war for three months, and returned home to be awarded the Purple Heart. Don and Donna then reunited and were married at the Presidio, a military base in San Francisco, California. Donna relished her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was active in her husband’s oil business, the community, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a deep love of literature and of the theater. She will be remembered as a compassionate, intelligent, affectionate, and fun loving woman. Donna nurtured lifelong friendships with many, among them Norma Hart, Helen Reed, Thora Just, Betty Carr, and Bethene Church. She is survived by Sister, Shirley (Robert) Geisler of San Jose, California, Daughter, Linda (Neil) Larsen of Idaho Falls, Daughter, Catherine Pieper of Fallbrook, California Daughter, Rebecca (Stephen) Sparrell, of Olympia, Washington, and Daughter, Julie (Jeff, deceased in 2008) Stone, also of Olympia, Washington, She had such pride in her exceptional granddaughters, Myndee Kay Larsen, of Chicago, Illinois, and Eva Elaine Larsen, of Wichita, Kansas. She also leaves many fine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marion (Francis) Williams, two brothers, Gordon Dick and Jennings Dick, the latter being deceased as an infant, and her husband of sixty-two years, Donald James Pieper. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Ammon LDS 11th Ward, 4459 East John Adams Parkway. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
