Donna Chapman

Donna Christine Grasse Chapman, 72, of Boise, Idaho, passed away October 4, 2015, at The Hospice Home, Hospice of Eastern Idaho of Cancer. Donna was born January 7, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Donald Oliver Andrews and Virginia Lucille Branson and shortly after adopted by James Edward Grasse and MaryBelle Hankins Grasse. She kept contact with her birth mother, “Gina” who later married Tony LaRocco, whom she also grew to love as a father. In her youth the family moved to Star Valley, Wyoming, where she grew up and graduated from Star Valley High School in Afton, WY, and later attended Ricks College. In 1963, she married Reid Larsen and lived in Ririe, Idaho, for five years. To this union were born two sons, Robert and Doug. Then in 1971, she married Ron Schild and lived in Pocatello, Idaho, raising her third son, Todd for 17 years. She was briefly married in 1989 with Larry Dickerson of Nampa, Idaho who passed away the next year. Ten years later, on December 18, 2000, she married Fred E. Chapman in Boise, Idaho. Soon after, both were diagnosed with Cancer and attended treatment together. Fred then suffered a stroke and Donna became his primary caregiver until his passing in 2007. During her life, Donna had the hardest job... devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. Always putting others ahead of herself and striving to do the right thing. Donna was born into an LDS family and then spent a number of years away from the church, later becoming a Born Again Christian. No matter her religious choice, she loved God and was full of gratitude, Donna kept different journals over the years and never failed to thank God for her life each day in every entry. Donna enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, dancing and having fun. She learned woodworking and the art of Painting. She loved cooking just as much as eating! She enjoyed bowling, throwing darts, and became an avid collector of things that fascinated her. Donna is survived by son, Robert Larsen of Vienna, Austria; son, Douglas Larsen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Todd Schild of Pocatello, ID; brother, David Duane (Shelby) Grasse of Wilmington, NC; brother, John (Brenda) Grasse of Evanston, WY; brother, Stephen LaRocco of Littleton, CO; sister, Tracy (William "Bill") LaRocco-Harris of Highlands Ranch, CO; and six grandchildren, Jeremy Douglas Larsen Alicia Marie Larsen serving a mission in Tuxtla Gutierrez Mexico, Jeffrey Dean Larsen, Ashley Christine Larsen, Justin Reid Larsen and Joshua Ellis Larsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and MaryBelle Grasse and Tony and Virginia LaRocco. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Hospice Home, 1087 Curlew Drive, Idaho Falls, ID 83406, who provided Donna a loving home for her last days.
