DON SUMMERS
IDAHO FALLS, ID --Donald “Don” Summers, 86,
of Idaho Falls, died August 31, 2003, at the Idaho Falls Care Center.
He was born September 7, 1916, at Shelley, Idaho, the tenth
of twelve children born to George Joseph Summers and Evelyn Bagley Summers.
He grew up in the Shelley area and attended schools there.
He married Velene J. Hess October 20, 1934, at Idaho Falls.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple in 1937. He
farmed in the Shelley area until 1946, when they bought a farm near Rigby.
They lived and worked on this farm until 1958,
when they built a home and moved to Idaho Falls. At that time he went to
work for DeMott Tractor until his retirement. Velene passed away February
2, 1996.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. Don loved to fish and hunt. He would take his grandchildren fishing
and camping often. He enjoyed selling John Deere Equipment and loved anything
that was John Deere green.

Daughter: Deanne [Jerry] Albright, Rigby, ID
Son: Jerry [VelDean] Summers, Idaho Falls, ID
9 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Velene, eleven brothers
and sisters, two grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Graveside Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday,
September 4, 2003, at the Goshen Cemetery with Bishop Ken Russell of the
Idaho Falls LDS Pioneer Ward officiating.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 to
8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge).
Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery under the direction of
Wood Funeral Home.
