DONALD P. SHOLDER
Donald Paul Sholder, 78, of Idaho Falls, died March 10, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 28, 1924 at Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Victor Paul Sholder and Madaline Elizabeth Hinston Sholder. He grew up and attended schools in the area.
During World War II, he served in both the Pacific and European Theaters on the Destroyer Escourt “The USS Marchand” as a First Class Water Tender. Upon returning home he was employed by Weldon Manufacturing as an electrician, and later for Avco, Airplane Division, in Williamsport.
He married Rita P. Etters on December 18, 1945 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He moved his family to Idaho Falls in 1958 where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum, AEC and Idaho Nuclear until the time of his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren bowl, playing cards, fishing, hunting and watching John Wayne movies.
Surviving are:Daughter: Sharon (Dennis) Howe, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Renee (Richard) Jones, Idaho Falls, ID 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be at 11:00 a.m Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Wood Funeral Home, with Chaplain John Piirto of the First Lutheran Church officiating. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home.
