Donald Orion Peterson, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 24, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Donald was born March 27, 1939, in Salmon, Idaho, to Orion Peterson and Edna Eva Sims Peterson. He grew up and attended schools in Leadore and graduated from Leadore High School in 1958. On May 22, 1964, he married Billie Hazel Lynne in Salmon, Idaho. Donald and Billie made their home in Leadore, Idaho, until 1986, when they moved to Dillon, Montana. In 1989, they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Donald worked as a plant supervisor for Louisiana Pacific Sawmill. He also contracted with custom combining and fencing. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Bishop of the Leadore Ward for five years. He enjoyed four-wheeling, fishing, camping, helping his neighbors, and spending time with his family. Donald is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Billie Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Donald Orion (Lisa) Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Timothy Scott (Tracy) Peterson of Tuttle, OK; son, Martin Ephriam (Amber) Peterson of Morrilton, AR; daughter, Krista Karoline (John) Beins of Rigby, ID; son, Mark Ammon (Shalee) Peterson of Rigby, ID; sister, Louise (Max) Dolenc of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Shirley (Walter) Scafe of Ashton, ID; brother, Ed (Dorothy) Peterson of Leadore, ID; 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orion and Edna Peterson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Leadore LDS Church, 118 North 3rd Street, with Bishop Von Bean officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Leadore-McRea Cemetery.
