DONALD R. NIELD
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Donald Ray Nield, 76, of Idaho Falls, died February 21, 2006, at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 28, 1929, in Poplar (Ririe), Idaho, to Ella Amelia Rice Nield and Percy LaVell Nield. He grew up and attended school in Ririe. He attended ISU and participated on the football and track teams.
On November 10, 1948, he married Dorothy Chapman in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dorothy passed away July 22, 1973. On September 13, 1974, he married Doris James Aicher in the Idaho Falls Temple. Don was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings.
He farmed with his father and brother, Ralph, for many years, was a salesman at various stores in Idaho Falls and Nampa, and retired from Argonne West at the INL. Don enjoyed fishing, woodworking and, later in his life, became addicted to golfing. He especially loved being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, and children: Brad (Kathy) Nield, Gael (Kayla) Nield, Lianne (Gary) Christesen, Alan (Terese) Nield, Evan (Julie) Nield, Jim (Jean) Aicher, Larry Aicher, Joyce (Craig) Rockwood, Don (Marla) Aicher, Tom (Julie) Aicher, Carolyn (Keith) Hansen,
35 Grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and brothers, Ralph and Max Nield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, Perce and Ella, sisters, Bernice Harrop, Pauline Hurley, and Carma Nield.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2006, at the Iona LDS 5th Ward (Ririe Hwy & Iona Road) with Bishop Geoffrey Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and from Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Rigby-Pioneer Cemetery.

I wish to convey my deepest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Don. Even though I did not get to see the family often, I think about the old neighborhood and what is happening to them. Both Mike and I want to tell you how sorry we are for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. Don and my husband were both recieving dialyses at Idaho Falls. We loved Don and Doris and the friendly and helpful things they said and did for all of us. My heart goes out to all of you, as you remember all the good things that having Don in your life meant. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts as the days and weeks go by. I know Don is looking down on all of you with pride and love!
