Donald Presley Mendel, 68, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away January 29, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of mesothelioma cancer.
Don was born March 6, 1943, in Hamilton, Montana, to Charles Earl Mendel and Dorothy Ruth Amos Mendel. He attended schools in his early years at Stevensville and Missoula, Montana, then moved to Idaho Falls in 1959 and attended Bonneville High School, graduating in 1962.
Don married the love of his life, Susan Lynn Meierotto, June 27, 1964, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They have three children together. He was a plumber and pipefitter with Local Union 648.
He attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints in his youth and was baptized. Don was an avid dirt bike rider, who always amazed people with his natural talent. He spent many memorable hours riding with his long time riding buddy, Larry Welker. He enjoyed floating in his raft, square dancing, camping, family vacations and playing pinochle and pool at The Senior Citizens Centers in Shelley and Idaho Falls.

6 Grandchildren, Bryce, Bryon, Brett, Christopher, Dustin, Kimberly and
4 Great-Grandchildren, Braxton, Brooklyn, Ukiah, Madix.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Mendel.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m Friday, February 3, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
