Donald  Ray Longwith, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 13, 2024, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community.

Donald was born May 4, 1934, in New Castle, Indiana, to Guy Ray Longwith and Dorothy Grace Longwith. He grew up and attended schools in Berkeley, Michigan, Short Ridge H.S. in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Kokomo, High School.,He earned a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University.

On October 7, 1956, he married Nancy Bowen. They made their home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked for Westinghouse Electric. He was selected to participate in the Navy nuclear program and trained in Idaho Falls fo 3 years. They were transferred back to Pittsburgh. In 1982, he was appointed civilian training director for the Navy's SOSMRC program where he trained Navy senior officers on the power plants for nuclear ships.   He retired in 1992.

Donald was a private pilot and enjoyed flying to areas in the Inter-Mountain West. He also enjoyed tennis, skiing, model railroads, and exploring the night skies.

Donald is survived by his wife Nancy Longwith of Idaho Falls, ID; Nancy Ann Hageman of Chesterton, IN, Beth Hageman of Bloomington, IN, Cindy Burns of Hawaii; and nephew of Kokomo, IN.

He was a superb human being!!
