DONALD "PETE" JENKINS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Donald Robert
“Pete” Jenkins, 79, of Idaho Falls, died May 18, 2003, at Eastern
Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
He was born May 22, 1923, at
Bluebell, Utah, to Robert Marks Jenkins and Nyda Smith Jenkins. He grew
up and attended schools in Utah. He moved to Idaho Falls at the age of 18,
then served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in San Diego and Guam.
He married Georgia Hammon in
1948 in Idaho Falls, and they had a son and were later divorced. He married
Gwendola Mangum Caughie July 24, 1971, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was
later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in
Idaho Falls and he worked at several farms in the area, including the Lionel
Brown farm. He then worked at Frenches (later Pillsbury) and retired from
Fresh Pak.
An active member of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Sunday School President
and was active in scouting. He served a full-time mission to Atlanta, Georgia
with his wife. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and making things
like wind chimes, lamps, and flowers.

Stepdaughter: Betty [Bill] Brown, Idaho Falls
Stepdaughter: Norma Schuldt, Idaho Falls
Stepdaughter: Pat [Larry] Burgess, Idaho Falls
Stepson: Dick [Jan] Caughie, Yuma, AZ
Sister: Erma [Lionel] Brown, Idaho Falls
17 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Donald Edward Jenkins,
a sister, Melva Ovard, and a grandson, Martin Cruz, Jr.
Funeral Services will be at
1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward, 955 Memorial
Drive, with Bishop David Holland officiating.
The family will visit with friends
on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and
Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery
under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
