DON HOLM
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Donald Jay
“Don” Holm, 68, of San Jose, California, formerly of Ammon,
died May 15, 2003, at the San Jose, California, residence of his son, Mike.
Don was born February 10, 1935,
in Ammon, Idaho, to Carl Theodore Adolphus Holm and Dora Cox Holm. He grew
up and attended schools in Ammon and graduated from Bonneville High School.
He then attended Ricks College 1953-1954 and graduated from Brigham Young
University in 1964, where he met his future wife, Elizabeth. He earned a
Masters' Degree in Education in 1972. He later earned his Masters' Degree
in Special Education in 1977 from Utah State University. He served a full-time
LDS Mission from 1956-1958 to Northern California.
He married Elizabeth Joan Bylund
August 28, 1959, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. After their marriage he
worked at the Bank of Commerce for a year, then taught school in Ammon for
several years. They moved to California in 1965, where he taught school
at Vacaville until they moved back to Idaho in 1969. Elizabeth passed away
in 1984. In 1986 he returned to California to the Lodi School District where
he was a Special Education Resource Specialist until his retirement from
education in 1999. He spent 22 of his 35 years teaching Special Education.
He was a member of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Elders Quorum President,
1st Counselor in the Bishopric, and was instrumental in helping set up the
LDS Church Welfare system in Vacaville. He enjoyed art and photography.
In recent years he had a special interest in helping people with chemical
dependencies and the homeless. He and a friend created the Waterfall Art
Room in Sacramento, which was open to everyone, to help promote aspiring
young artists.

Sister: DeAnn [Kent] Burke, Ammon
10 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a sister.
Funeral Services will be at
11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South
Ammon Road, with his son, Michael Stewart Holm, officiating.
The family will visit with friends
on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the services,
both at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon). Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery
under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
