Donald Bird

Donald Joseph Bird, 64, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 21, 2017.

Don was born December 23, 1952, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Leland Hyrum Bird and Alice Gould Bird. He grew up and attended schools in St. Anthony where he enjoyed playing football and was the captain of the team. He graduated from South Fremont High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War.

On January 5, 1972, he married Cindy Sommer in Salem, Idaho. To this union were born two children: Chasidee and Misti. Don served in the National Guard for 20 years and also worked as a construction supervisor at the Idaho National Labs (INL). Don and Cindy were later divorced in 1992.

He enjoyed shooting, hunting with his buddies, four wheeling, camping, and just having a good time. He loved spending time with his daughters and his grandchildren. He was so proud of his oldest granddaughter, Zya, for graduating high school this year. He loved watching his granddaughter, Aspen, excel in powerlifting, and he enjoyed seeing his grandson, Austen, follow in his footsteps and become a great football player. Don loved and adored all of his grandchildren and enjoyed every minute he was able to spend with them. His last vacation made him especially happy. He had always wanted to visit Bayview, Idaho and enjoy its splendor, and he was able to visit before he passed away. Over the last few years, he was grateful for the loving care provided to him by his daughter, Misti.

Don is survived by his daughter, Chasidee Lyn Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Misti Dawn Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughter, Zya Zhonae Robertson of Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughter, Aspen Dawn Seward of Idaho Falls, ID; grandson, Austen B.
