Donald Clair Aicher

Donald Clair Aicher, 68, of Iona, passed away January 5, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Donald was born July 15, 1956, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Arthur Maurice Aicher and Doris James Aicher. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Vo-Tech.

On June 5, 1975, he married Marla R. Jessen in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Donald and Marla made their home in Iona, Idaho, where Donald worked as a welder at First Street Welding for 36 years. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Don lived life in the fast lane: wrangling rattlesnakes, dirt biking, and snowmobiling. He was always the first to lend a hand with any project, and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, build, or improve. If he didn’t have it in his shop, it wasn’t necessary. Don was a true jack-of-all-trades, except when it came to electronics. He loved spending his weekends outdoors in Swan Valley, Bone, and Mackay, operating combines, fishing, hunting, searching for arrowheads, and hiking. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his loved ones. The family was always his top priority. Don was a loving husband, an amazing father, a caring grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend. He was the first person anyone would call, and his answer was always yes. Heaven gained one of the great ones, and until we see you again, you will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Marla R. Aicher of Iona, ID; son, Christopher D. (Jackie) Aicher of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Tiffini L. Aicher of Ammon, ID; son, Travis J. (Jennie) Aicher of Roberts, ID; brother, Jim (Jean) Aicher of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Larry Aicher of Peoria, IL; sister, Joyce (Craig) Rockwood of Iona, ID; and brother, Tom (Teresa) Aicher of Iona, ID; 8 grandchildren: Drayven, Savanna, Sierra, Kameron, Lane, Addison, Parker, and Vivian; and two great-grandchildren, Rysen and Kynden.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Maurice Aicher; mother, Doris Aicher Nield; sister, Carolyn (Keith) Hansen; great-grandson, Colsten Aicher; step-father, Don Nield; father-in-law, Albert Jessen; mother-in-law, Doreen Jessen; and grandparents.
