Dona June Wold Andrew June 8, 1926 - December 29, 2011 Dona June Wold Andrew passed quietly and gently, at the age of 85, Thursday, December 29, 2011, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her final chapter came, peacefully, with family by her side, to witness the closing of her book. She was born June 8, 1926, in Ammon, Idaho. She was the second of four children born to Vernal Harold Wold and Effie Maria Empey Wold. She as the only girl, with one older and two younger brothers to boss around. She grew up on a farm in Ammon surrounded by extended family: her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins were her closest neighbors. She was happy on the farm and learned to work with her brothers at an early age. She attended schools in Ammon and graduated from Ammon High School in May of 1944. Dona had always wanted to be a nurse. She entered nurses training under the Idaho Falls Hospital United States Cadet Nurse Program. She graduated from training September 3, 1947. She became reacquainted with a young man named Verl Andrew, whom she had known before going to nursing school. They reconnected when his friend and her cousin talked them into double dating for a dance . . . and as all good love stories go, it was magic. They married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple September 10, 1947. They lived in their Idaho Falls 17th Street house for most of their married lives. Together they raised five daughters and one son. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Stake Girls Camp Director for 11 years. She loved serving in the "Great Outdoors." She was also involved for numerous years in the Festival of Trees. Dona supported her husband's Boy Scout activities and even right up to her passing, could recite the Boy Scout oath without hesitating. She and Verl loved spending time at their cabin on Hebgen Lake, Montana, and traveling. They were able to visit much of the world together. They served an LDS Work Mission in Adam Ondi Ahman, Missouri, and upon returning, became snowbirds and spent the cold winter months in Washington City, Utah. After 55 years of marriage, she lost Verl, as he passed in 2002. She has resided in Salt Lake City for the past 6 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband Verl; and her brothers Lionel Wold and Max Wold. She is survived by her children, Tina (Tim) Comeau of Park City, UT; Debbie (John) Poznanovich of Boise, ID; Barbara (Larry) Woolf of Boise, ID; Holly (Evan) Cook of Idaho Falls, ID; Richard (Tanya) Andrew of Salt Lake City, UT; and Dana (Trent) Grandy of West Jordan, UT. She is also survived by one brother, Larry (Vicki) Wold of Boise, ID. She has 17 Grandchildren and 4 Great grandchildren. Dona's children would like to recognize and express their appreciation and thanks for the extraordinary care and love given to Mom by our eldest sister Tina Comeau. She made Mom's final years a life, not just an existence. Graveside Services for Dona will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, prior to leaving for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that friends and family take a moment to build a memory with their loved ones, like we had with our mother.
