Don Gregory Smith, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away on May 2, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 18, 1940, in Seattle, Washington to Harold Chambers Smith and Bessie Merle Kreuzer Smith. He grew up in the area, attended John Muir Elementary, and graduated from Franklin High School. He attended Whitman College, then transferred to University of Washington where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
In September of 1961, he married Janet Grace Ruttan in Seattle. After 32 years of marriage, they were divorced, but remained best friends. Don worked as a director for the Amdahl Corporation.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various callings. He loved to dance, attend his grandchildren’s soccer games and spend time with his family.
Survivors are:
Friend: Janet Smith of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son: Mark Smith of Fremont, CA;
Daughter: Cherie (Erick) McPherson of Ammon, ID;
and 4 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doug Smith.
Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Idaho Falls LDS Parley Ward at 2055 Coronado Street.
