DON MAXFIELD IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Don Godfrey Maxfield, 83, of Idaho Falls, died February 20, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Don was born April 29, 1926, in Murray, Utah to Curtis Wayne Maxfield and Kina Ellen Godfrey Maxfield. He graduated from Ucon High School early to join the United States Navy at the age of 17. After the Navy, he worked for his dad in the service station business. He later started his own business: Don’s Service Station and Equipment. On March 20, 1948 he married Faye Jean Ancell. From this union came two daughters, Nancy and Vicky. In 1971 he married Delight Yvonne Kearney Grohar. On March 2, 2005, he married Lily W. Hendricks in Idaho Falls. They had five wonderful years together. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Don loved to fish, travel, tell jokes, and fix anything and everything. Although he had lost his sight, he could do so many things and describe things perfectly and beautifully. Survivors include: Wife: Lily Maxfield, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Nancy (Dr. Stephen) Lee, Brandenburg, KY Daughter: Vicky (Karl “Todd”) Schweickardt of Idaho Falls, ID 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren Brother: Lynn (Colleen) Maxfield of Layton, UT Half Sisters: Connie (Larry) Carlson, Carol (Rodger) Jensen, and Judy K. Maxfield all of Idaho Falls Step Children: Vicky (James ) Carroll, Rick (Jennifer) Hendricks, Andy (Christina) Hendricks, and Dan (Sylvia) Hendricks. 11 Step Grandchildren and 9 Step Great Grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins, friends, and his dogs “Boots” and “Gordy.” He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Afton Lifferth; his step-mother, Anne Kite Maxfield; and his wives Faye and Delight. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care Don received from friends and neighbors, Life Care Center, and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Ucon Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Richard Hale rkhale@ruddco.com Every time he called me or I called him, he'd always have a funny joke to tell me. I called him and we talked for almost an hour. That meant so much to me. Then to hear that he'd passed away made me so very grateful that I'd been able to have that contact with him.
