Don Lewis

Don LaFay Lewis, 89, of Denver, Colorado, passed away October 7, 2011, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center. Don was born July 8, 1922, in Warm River, Idaho, to LaFay Lewis and Mabel Clair Edginton Lewis. He grew up in Warm River and graduated from North Fremont High School in St. Anthony. Following high school Don proudly served his country as a Major in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Don married Mildred June Smithburger in New Mexico in 1947. They made their home in Denver, Colorado, for 65 years, where he worked as a tinner for Gates Rubber. Mildred passed away October 16, 2002. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was handy with his hands and enjoyed building model ships. Don loved to travel. He is survived by his daughter Carol Ann Lewis of Terreton, Idaho, a grandson Edward Staley also of Terreton, Idaho and a niece Sharon Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID. Don was preceded in death by his parents, LaFay and Mabel Lewis, and his wife, Mildred. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011, at Olinger Hampden Memorial Gardens in Denver, Colorado. The family will visit with friends from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 East Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80321.
