Don K. Davis - 06/13/2002 Don K. Davis - 06/13/2002 DON K. DAVIS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Don Kent Davis, 62, of Idaho Falls, died June 12, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a heart attack. He was born February 21, 1940, at Idaho Falls, to Thomas Lester Davis and Merle Sylvia Stallings Davis. He grew up in Iona and attended Iona Elementary and graduated from Bonneville High School. He lived in Iona until he was 33 years old, except for time spent on an LDS Mission in Florida and during his schooling at Ricks College and Utah State University, where he earned his teaching degree. His 37 year teaching career began in Burley, where he taught Seminary from 1965-66. He then came to Idaho Falls and taught at Central Junior High School for a year before transferring to the newly opening Skyline High School, where he has taught ever since as a teacher and coach. He married Gail Arden Williams July 19, 1973, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in the Bishopric, as a Sunday School Teacher, on the Stake High Council, as Elders Quorum President, and in various other callings over the years. His number one love was teaching, but he also enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, camping, and Dutch Oven cooking. He was affiliated with Little League Baseball as a coach for many years and worked with the Boy Scouts of America as a merit badge counselor. He dearly loved teaching and was dearly loved by his students. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 East 105 North, with Bishop Robert B. Clark of the Ucon LDS 3rd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
